About the Land

We’ve given the name Ahimsa Sanctuary to our little piece of paradise here.  Ahimsa holds the meaning of ‘respect for all living things and avoidance of harm towards others’. This is the kind of sanctuary that we wish to create here, a place of respect for the natural environment that has been thriving here for generations and that we wish to nourish and nurture, so that it may thrive for many more generations to come. We wish for Ahimsa Sanctuary to be a place where the people who visit this place, truely get to connect with and experience fully the nature here and recieve the energies that it offers to contribute to deep wellness and healing.

Ahimsa Sanctuary is about two hectares of steep sloping olive orchards with many magical places to discover around the land. It’s surrounded by national park and has three distinct climate zones, from the stream running along the bottom of the land, to the Mamosa tree grove at the heart and up to the track which borders the top of the land.
Up the top, it’s open and exposed, it has a tremendously spacious feel and it gifts these majestic panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. This is where we’ve created our temporary living space with our van parked up on a stone terrace that we built. It’s where we cook, eat, rest, play, wash up, hang our clothes. It’s where we organize the power and the water from the 80 meter deep bore-hole, to water the trees and garden spaces that we are creating. It’s where we’ve constructed our small outdoor kitchen and where we have our baby greenhouse for the seedlings to progress.
This is the top of the land.
As we walk down the hillside to the heart centre of the land, we feel the shift in energy. This is kind of like the belly of Ahimsa Sanctuary, it’s where the dry-stacked stone house sits, cocooned beside an area of Mamosa trees and a giant euculiptus. This heartland sits on a natural bulge on the hillside, protected by the nestling terraced hills on either side. It feels like an energy center here, like there are things to be experienced, learned and created here. It’s where we plan to build the natural shelters on the land. Currently we simply have our outdoor shower here.

Then as we walk a little further down the land, this is where you really start to feel the magic and enchantment of this special place. There’s a small stream at the very foot of the land which gifts this beautiful energy, water trickling over rocks and small waterfalls. This is where we’ve created our first stone garden beds. This is a place of natural healing, we can feel it. It’s enveloped by an enchanted like forest. It’s where we come to allow our energies to shift into more balance and tranquility. It’s a very precious place and the key-stone of the sanctuary.
So this is the overview of the land here. Three zones which each gift their own unique qualities, where we’re embarking on different exciting projects to sculpt and work with the nature here to create a very special kind of sanctuary. A place where friends and family can come to regenerate, heal, feel calm and connected and revitalize their energies. This is what we are building and we hope that one day we’ll be welcoming you here to experience and discover for yourself, the special gifts of this land.️
