I remember it was one of those days few years ago. Sebastian came late form work. I’ve been feeling tired and overwhelmed, like most days. The girls where just 2 and a half and somehow more challenging that day.
At a dinner table Sebastian and I started to talk again about the idea we had already since some time, since we came back from travelling in India.We wanted to move to the countryside, live self sustainable as much as possible, grow our own food, and become self employed.
I had really no idea what we could do but I had faith in Sebastian’s brilliant mind. I knew that he had been thinking about something that we could make. We didn’t know then about the online opportunities, we believed that the only way for us to brake away from the life we had, was to create our own product, basically something that we could make and then sell it.
I was right about Sebastian. He had an idea for a kind of special chair. Very vague idea, vague thought that later on, just over three years later, turned into a series of dynamic, active, sensory chairs which we called Cloud Bubbles.
However at the time, right at the beginning he couldn’t explain it to me in detail, I’m pretty sure he didn’t know himself at that point exactly how it supposed to look like and where to start. But nevertheless, not knowing how and where to start, we just said LET’S DO IT. And this moment changed our whole life and our future. We decided consciously to take control of our life.
We set a goal. We decided and committed to organise everything we needed. Find a place that we could rent somewhere in the UK countryside, move and start from scratch our own business.
And you know, with all the fear and uncertainty, this decision brought the best out in us. This goal became our instruction to act. Helped us to understand the direction we have to move toward to bring us closer to the life we wanted and dreamed about.
Because all what goal is, is something you’ve consciously decided that you want and now willing to work to get. And setting a goal is the process of deciding on something that you want, planning how to get it, and then working toward it.
Brian Tracy calls goal setting the master skill of success.

So learning how to set and accomplish goals, is the single most important skill that we can ever develop. That’s the key to get what we want out of life. And with practice it can be mastered, we can get better and better at it, stronger and more effective.
In fact, all successful people are goal oriented. And the most successful people in our society are in a habit of goal setting. It is not just a one time thing that they do, it’s a lifestyle. They set clear written goals on an ongoing basis and they focus on achieving these goals every single day.
So what’s the best way to set goals, how to make them most effective that they could possibly be? And still stay simple and fun…
The goal setting process:
- set goals that matter – choose goals that will make a big difference in your life, that are meaningful. Remember that our lives will be shaped by the goals we set so we should choose wisely.

2. set goals that move you – they should literally move you into action. They should inspire you to move, to act, to change your behaviour, right away, not someday in the future.
3. set S.M.A.R.T. Goals –
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable
R – Rewording
T – Time-bound.

So here you go. Make sure that all of your goals have this three elements and you will know that your goal setting will be effective. Make also sure that you match your goals with your values, otherwise they wont be aligned with who you are and what you really want out of life. Then set them in structured way to avoid overwhelm. Identify what’s most important, do less and get better results.
